Is you UCS oriented correctly?
You do know that you can use OSnaps to move even a 3D object accurately right?
BTW...disable Ortho mode if it is on.

Hi! I´ve made some CAD before but I´m fairly new to AutoCAD (using 2009 ed). I have an object that I have created of two cylinders and one box and the unified them to one object. I want to place this object inside anothe cylinder and subtract it but when I unite the first three object inte one new objet I cannot speicfy the exact posiiton of it. Using the move-tool only lets me move the object in 0, 90, 180 and 270 deg. How do I do to specify the exact coordinates of this object and how do I define a reference point in this new object since there is no corner at the bottom right now?

a way could be to make this object a block. then the block 0,0,0 coordinate would be the block insertion point, you can play with that to place the object in the right positon and then explode the block to do the boolean operation

There should be no reason to make the object a block. As I read it, the multiple solids have been unioned together therefore they should move together.
