Drawing a curved cyc wall

triglyph

Recommended Posts

I'm doing a design proposal for an "Avatar" type motion capture/greenscreen room. I can draw the room well enough, but I'm not sure what is the best way to draw the curved cyc wall.

It would be a framed wall that curves as it meets the floor -- a cyclorama or sweep as it is sometimes called.

Should I draw a line and extrude it? It needs to be a three wall cyc, so making it turn corners is the thing that's really got me baffled.

Also, I want the front wall of the studio to be a glass screen (for tours): I'm guessing a curtain wall is the way to do that.

Here is a simple example:

If you already made the profile and extruded the screen you can also sweep that profile along an arc perpendicular to your profile. Change your UCS to draw the arc to sweep.

Then thicken your surface to create a solid.

Then you can offset the arc and create another surface to be used as a slicing plane.

Many thanks for your feedback. I'm going to try them when I get back to the computer.

Changing the UCS is not something I've done before, but I think I can figure it out.
