    Default Content Center issues

Heyas, im wondering if someone has a solution to this long term problem ive had regarding content center. For eg, my boss will create an assembly and use content center for nuts/bolts etc, he then give me the project files (.iam, .asm, etc) and ill do the working drawings. Problem is that my computer will always says these content center files are missing and to resolve them, i have to skip the parts and of course since the assembly is not resolved i cant dimension or do any working drawings from them.

Could be related to this. Content center on my bosses computer actually both his computers works fine, content center on my work provided computer, laptop, and home computer never had worked for me, always gives me hassles trying to install it saying i need to install the ADMS client blah blah and that never works in the end. When ever trying to run content center files on my computers it always asks me to logon to the server and using the single user login never works.

Our temp solution: Boss needs to save all the content center parts as their own .ipt for me to resolve the .iam and create working drawings.

I think it has something to do with where the content center files are mapped to ... but I can't be certain about this. I'm using Autodesk Vault and I'm the only user who is currently modifying and working on drawings and assemblies.

Probably your best bet is to have the boss File>Save As > Pack & Go - this will retrieve all of the CC parts from the library and put them in a local folder with the rest of the parts.

Alternatively - your boss could check the Custom option when using CC parts which will put them local in the folder with the rest of the assembly parts.

I don't use Vault on my notebook. On install select Desktop Content and you get all of the Content Center Libraries installed with no muss, not fuss.

Well as soon as i try to place something from content center i get a dialog to log into the server (i assume vault server) although im not connected to anything. It asked for a username, password, server, and database. I read in the documentation that if your a single users just put in the server field "localhost" but doing that gives the error "the database name appears to be invalid"

There is also and option "content center read only users" Selecting this greys out all fields by server but this gives the error "autodesk inventor 2008 could not find the data management services on localhost"

So i cant even place anything from content center to begin with. PS. i always install with content center ticked and i can see the files in explorer, but inventor says no cant do that.

You should put 2008 in your profile. Desktop Content was added to 2010. The problem you are experiencing was common in earlier releases - been too long ago for me to recall the solution.
