3D Trim Help

Long story short, I am currently a student working on extended project and trying to finalize the drawing on CAD.

Gone well so far but now I have hit a brick wall, the scenario is that i have created a 3D shape in which I need to cut into it with differnt shapes and sizes such as cylinders and rectangles. I have tried extruding the objects downwards but i need the orignal shape to show the cuts.

If anyone can inform me how to do this or provide a alternative solution it would be greatly appreciated thanks.

You could try SOLIDEDIT

COPY Edges or COPY Faces

If prefer copy Faces. Even though it creates a region. If you explode the region you will have all your edges in only a single selection.

Set the variable delobj to 0 This will keep the original shape that you extruded from being erased after the extrusion..It this what you are after??

Ok, thanks for your help but I am still not sure what you mean.

I attached a file with the 3D drawing and the 2D shapes.

What i want to know is when i extrude the 2D shapes how i can then cut them from the orignal 3D shape, to show a Solid 3D object with holes/engraving on it.

If you can provide me with some steps that would be great thanks.

Presspull (easy way) or Extrude and then Subtract (hard way) F1

This should have been covered in your classroom instruction and/or your book.

This is perfect thanks just what i needed.

As for teaching we only got taught how to use 2D basics on AutoCAD 2009 and yet 3D is required for the project so I have been browsing the help menu and internet for when I get stuck.
