I saw how to turn it on in code, but abandoned it when I noticed that turning on background mask would cover the surrounding rectangle.

Well...I just learned something new. I had not even noticed that as a selection. Haven't found anything on if or where the gap can be changed on the frame. Maybe a lisp would have to be written to handle that.

Now, I didn't do much digging, but I could only find a way to toggle its on/off state.
