DavidHunterMLA
Hi everybody, I am using AutoCAD with Windows 7 with Bootcamp on my Macbook Pro. For months my trial version worked flawlessly, however soon after I installed the Educational key it began to stop working and close suddenly. The screen goes grey and a window saying, "AutoCAD application has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly," without giving any specific reason. This happens every couple of minutes. It does this both while I am working, and also while it is sitting idle. Does anyone have any thoughts to counteract this? Thank you, -Hunter
ReMark
AutoCAD 2010. Windows 7 (64-bit right?). Macbook Pro utilizing Bootcamp. Worked flawlessly until Educational key installed. Now has problem. Something else must have changed. Did you download and install Update 1 for 2010?
DavidHunterMLA
It's actually 32 bit, but I did download and install Update 1 to no avail.
ReMark
I can't think of a good reason why the software would "stop working and close suddenly". How soon after entering the educational key did the software begin to exhibit this odd behavior? One day, a week? Could it have anything to do with your anti-virus program and/or critical OS updates? geneberrier
I am having the exact same problem on two separate machines. I did not have this problem on either machine before I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista. Is there some typ of compatibility problem that has not been addressed? ReMark
And what OS are you running geneberrier?
geneberrier
I am running windows 7 home premium on both machines. One is a laptop with 4gb ram and 4gb rediboost; the other is a desktop with 4gb ram. Neither are macs. The laptop is 32 bit and the desktop is 64 bit. I'm trying to think through when I started to have this problem, and I don't remember having this happen before I upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista Home Premium. ReMark
Could be the "upgrade" left bits and pieces of Vista behind (in the Registry?) that are affecting your system. No problems however with any other programs? I'm running Win7 (64-bit) and AutoCAD 2010 (64-bit). I also have AutoCAD 2004 (32-bit) loaded and running as well. geneberrier
Thanks for your response. I have not noticed any other programs closing abruptly like civil 3d 2009 does. I've gotten gun-shy; I'll draw a couple of lines, then save!
ReMark
I don't recommend going the upgrade route when changing from one OS to another. Too many times the process leaves behind something that becomes a "gotcha" later on. You can never be 100% sure everything was cleaned out entirely.
