    Default SketchUp Information

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

I've only recently started working with SketchUp but I am really impressed with it. It's more intuitive than AutoCAD but it uses a lot of the same moves. For example, if you like object snap tracking in AutoCAD, you can use the same technique in Sketchup.

Take a look at the SketchUp website for details. There's even a time limited trial version to download.

The application is also supported by some great video tutorials to get you going.

    Default Sketchup User Guide

@Last software (the maker of SketchUp) provide a free downloadable, 400 page user guide for Sketchup. It's an excellent reference:

And the free viewer is good as well.

Sketchup is easy to use and models can be droped into in most packages ie VIz -Max - Autocad - Bryce - 2 name a few, great fun
USING AUTOCAD 2013 AND INVENTOR 2013, ALIAS 2013.

If in doubt scale and don't ask!

Got the 400mins free trail of Sketchup.. had a little play and we all like it.. £400 seems good value for money for the full version.
Is the software purley for sketching purposes i.e for architectural design principles or would we be able to use it for more technical drawings like 3dimensional details and sections or building elevations showing the wall construction from blockwork/brickwork-insulation-brackets-rails-cladding.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jimmy, yes, you can do all of these with SU. Have a look at the main SU site for sample drawings and also on the user forums at some of the images there. Many people have used it in these ways. Good luck
