    Default Plotting shade

I'm new to this 3D side of Autocad, using 2000. Looks great on screen using shade, but when it plots its just a wireframe. How do i plot it fully shaded? I tried render but it looked rubbish under render, no distinct edges, not vivid colours, etc. I tried just plotting as a wireframe but this shows all hiden lines up as well. I know how to turn them off so they dont show on screen, but they keep showing up on plot preview. Again, why is this? Whats the best way to do this either solid or wireframe without hidden lines showing? thanks

Hidden line wireframes can be plotted ( with hide lines chcked). Shade and render are screen images and can be exported using the SAVEIMG command.

Wireframes can be plotted to a DXB plotter and brought back into acad as all line entities. Images must be brought back in with the image manager. -David

David is correct, you cannot plot a shaded/rendered image from AutoCAD 2000. This was corrected in r2004 and up IIRC. You can do as David said to saveimg or render to a file.

thanks for the replies, so am i to understand that autocad 2005 can plot shade and render? And also, the hide lines in wireframe mode, this only seems to work in modelspace. If i try to print from in paperspace all hidden lines show, does the hide lines only work in model space?

Not sure about that but it should work in both. Maybe someone else knows that.

When you are in paperspace, type in MV and then type in HI for hideplot in viewport option. Select On to hide it.

    You could try this:

With the view you want on the screen, press the print screen button on the keyboard (you may need to change the background colour and turn off the grid)

Start MS paint, paste, select the image area and copy.

Return to AutoCAD and paste special.

    Print the drawing.
