i use Autocad to model up differnt joinery cabinets and they all have similar components e.g. sides, shelves tops doors etc,all of these need to be on their own layer. the problem occurs when i have multiple cabinets and i want to display them on a sheet layout.(the cabinets are touching each other) because i want to only display 1 at a time. if I have different layers for each part and i have 20 cabinets there is a lot of layers to create and also to scroll through. i have in the past used vectorworks, in which you can create different layers and then group the parts on different layers and put the group on a differnt layer without changing the layer for the orignal parts, means you can turn off a whole cabinet and still have everything on the sides, shelves tops doors layers etc. hope this makes sense.

cheers

Hi,

If I understood, you have got some cabinets with common layers and you want to display one cabinet by sheet layout.

My first idea, is to create one block by cabinet and you one layer by block. You insert one cabinet by layer (cabinet1,cabinet2....).

In sheet layout open viewport and freeze in current viewport.

See example
