Lamp Neck

PointOfLight

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm trying to make a 3D wall mounted lamp and I'm having difficulty making the gooseneck that connects the fixture to the wall. I had no trouble doing it in 2D with splines but I can't seem to figure out a way to make the curved pipes I need for the 3D.

I tried to post a link to a picture of it but this is my first post so I don't have the priveleges yet.

Thanks in advance for any help!

If you have a very odd bend to your goose neck, try writing the coordinates in excel (x coordinates in A column, y coordinates in B), then make the D column =A1&","&B1. Highlight all of your coordinates in column D, then copy (Crtl+C). In autocad, set your UCS to be 0,0 at the end where you want your coordinates to start with the x and y axis in the positive directions of the direction of your goose neck. Type PLINE, Enter, Ctrl+V without clicking on your screen. It will give those coordinates as a polyline which you can sweep as Kencaz stated.

If you want to go a bit advanced, start your polyline in the negative direction of the start of your coordinates with the same slope as your first segment, hit A+Enter (for starting arches in the pline) then press Ctrl+V and it will all be smooth.
