removing links to other data sources

how do you remove links to other data sources usch as excel? I had copied a table from Excel and pasted into my drawing in paperspace, on several layouts. I have since deleted these on each layout however when I try to print anything, i get a pop-up message (8 times!) asking me if I want to update the link. How do I get rid of this annoyance? Thanks in advance

Try this. Set the variable DATALINKNOTIFY to 0 then test it. What happens?

Per your AutoCAD Help file he proper way to remove a datalink is...

Select the data extraction table and right-click. Click Data Links > Detach Data Link.

I tried changing datalinknotify to 0 but it didn't help. I also went to Tool/Datalinks/update data links and I am told that no data links exist. Yet when I exit the drawing and re-open it, I get the same multiple prompts to update the link. Further thoughts?

rv: The method you used is different than the method lauriemck used to insert an Excel file into a drawing. One is a Datalink; the other is Paste Special.

I am back

I used data extraction and link data

No problem when I print.

But when you open Externals reference the link with excel it still here

Maybe that is the problem ?

Or in Data link manager, check if you have got some excel link.

(see image)

What do you think ?
