It's going to label any contour that intersects your label line. Just set the minor labels to a style that doesn't display, freeze the layer the minor labels would be on or set the display to off for the minor labels.

In AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 how can I label contours on a surface of just major contours? If I turn off minor contours and draw a line through the desired area and set an interval distance between labels, then autocad labels the major contours but once I turn minors back on again all contours are now labeled. There must be a way to label just majors while having major and minor contours showing?

Select the contour label(s). You can turn off the minor contour labels in Properties.

Thank you!
