Loft Cad 2010 Vs Cad 2011

hi i recently install cad 2011 :D

an i have and issue :wink:

in cad 2010 i make several lines and make extrude, after this i make a loft to this planes to converted to a solid :)

in cad 2011 this "solid" its empty :glare:

its missing some faces so its not a solid

 

¿ its there a way to fix this?

I'm trying to figure out why you need to extrude first then loft. The object on the left can be created as a solid using extrude or press/pull. I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish on the right.

An approximation of one of your objects created with the press/pull command (on left). To the right is a copy of the object that has been sliced to prove it is a solid.

i know about press/pull

but what if i need to do this? (cad2011.jpg)

to reach this (fachada principal (2).jpg and fachada oeste diurna.jpg)

some times i need to do this proceeder:cry:

Thank you your explanation. Now I see what you are attempting to do. What I still confused about is the method you are using to go about achieving the affect.

 

Are you using lofting the planes using the curves as your guides?

I gave it another try using the method I asked you about in my previous post. The image below shows three views of the entire object I created along with one view after I sliced it to prove I created a solid.

in your profile says that you are using cad 2010 this issue is in 2011

is your profile wrong?

 

I was thinking about returning to cad 2010 :(

 

your image its dificult to understand for me ::?

did you 3rotate? or view from below? :huh:

 

if you are in cad 2011 could you tell me exactly what yo do? :P

 

i am frustrated i have years doing this preceder and i have never have problems :(

I shall correct my previous statement. I extruded four lines to create surfaces. Then I did a loft of two curves lines (one on each side of the planes). I used the four planes as my guides.

 

My profile is correct. All work was done in plain AutoCAD 2010. Although I am on subscription I have not loaded 2011. I usually wait 3 full months before loading the newest release in order to catch the first update (service pack) that addresses many of the problems users encounter with new releases.

 

I did not 3Drotate. The original object, in the lower right hand corner, was copied three times. Two of those copies were rotated using the normal Rotate command. The third copy (that I ended up slicing) was made in the same orientation as the original.

 

You say you have done this in the past. Could you explain how you did it, if it differs from my technique, and go into a bit more detail?

 

My goal was to try to reproduce what you were attempting to do so I could get a better idea of 1) how it was done and 2) what possible problems could occur.

Another example. Perhaps the color differences will help make things easier to understand. Polylines are in red, lines in black.

You don't use curves? That's funny. Two of your examples have curves in them.

 

There is no "conversion" to a solid. In the process I used the solid is created when the curves were lofted. I did not create a surface first then convert it to a solid.

Post you're drawing so we can take a look at it. First save it down to a previous version. Do a "save as" in 2007 file format.

Try this simple exercise on your computer.

 

Draw four lines as you see them in number 1.

 

Extrude the front and back lines making the back taller as you see in number 2.

 

Make a copy of the objects you just created. Start the Loft command.

 

When AutoCAD prompts you to Select cross sections in lofting order pick the back plane and the front plane you created with the Extrude command.

 

When AutoCAD prompts you to Enter an option [Guides/Path/Cross sections only] : type the letter "G" and then press Enter.

 

Now select the two remaining lines that were not extruded. AutoCAD refers to these lines as Guide curves even though they are straight.

 

The finished result should appear as number 3. Doing a "List" on this object will confirm it is a true 3Dsolid.

i added a 4° object i only select in the green circle and move

 

so you cant see its empty

 

wen i say i don't use curves i mine the guide curves you use (dash red ones)

Please do me a favor. After you have completed the steps you took to create the above object would you press the F2 function key, bring up the AutoCAD text screen, copy the AutoCAD commands and your responses and post them here. Thank you.

 

By the way, if you use the loft command and just select the front and back planes (ignoring the lines) you should still end up with a solid.

One more favor if I may.

 

Do a list on the last object to the right in the image above (the one that is open). Does the object description come back as a Lofted Surface because that is what it looks like you have created to me.

Hi ReMark I just followed your little tutorial above (4 posts above) and at the end the 2 extruded items weren’t part of the solid. I can delete them and the item is hollow.

Is that right?
