khoshravan
My Autocad always opens in 3D mode. 1- How can I change it to 2D permanently, so when I start autocad, it opens in 2D mode. 2- Which command control the shift between them, while I am inside AUTOCAD? ReMark
Your workspace should be 2D drafting. Is it? Have you turned off Grid? Are you using the acad.dwt template file when you open a new drawing?
khoshravan
I don't know about my workspace mode but when it opens, it is in 3D mode. When it opens the Grid is on. I choose file/new command. The default selection was not acad.dwt but when I select and open acad.dwt, it opens in 2D. I want Autocad to open in 2D when I start it. I think I have to make the acad.dwt its default template. Am I right? Your help is highly appreciated. Your workspace should be 2D drafting. Is it? Have you turned off Grid? Are you using the acad.dwt template file when you open a new drawing? ReMark
You can check what Workspace you're working in by going to the bottom right hand corner of your screen and clicking on the icon with the outline of a gear on it. There should be a checkmark in front of the current workspace. What is it?

At home it is always 2D with no problem. The one at office opens at 3D. Attached is a snapshot of ACAD from home. As you can see I can't find a gear on bottom right side of screen. Cad64
Click the little down arrow next to the lock. This will open a pop up menu that will allow you to enable the display of the workspaces gear icon.
khoshravan
Click the little down arrow next to the lock. This will open a pop up menu that will allow you to enable the display of the workspaces gear icon. In the attached image, Which of the ticked items shows the workspace? I think icons inside the little down arrow controls the toggle buttons on the bottom of the page and (snap, grid, ortho, polar, otrack, ducs, dy, lwt, model) it has one named: paper/model. DO you mean this icon should be clicked? clicking this toggle button shows the .MSPACE and .PSPACE command alternatively in command line. Cad64
It's been a long time since I've used 2007. Looks like the Workspace option is not in there. Well, you have two options then. You can either type WORKSPACE at the command line and choose SETTINGS from the list of options. Or, use your Workspaces toolbar. I can see in your screenshot that you already have it open and it's set to Autocad Classic.
edwinprakoso
If I'm not mistaken, there was an option when you start AutoCAD 2007. You can choose to work in 3D or 2D model. I think it was the adsk team getting excited after implementing new 3D modeling tools in 2007. It will select different template. You might find your AutoCAD open 3D template. Try ISO or IMPERIAL template and see if it will show 2D model. Basically they are the same, but 3D template already open 3D perspective view.
