IJC
Hi All I am rather new to Inventor.I have modelled a cylinder in which there will be parts added to form an assembly of a pnuematic valve.Could anybody view the file and offer opinions/advice on where there maybe faults.I did do the majority of the body at the end as a revolution (2)as i found it easier to model the inside features This is modelled using IV2011 Best Regards IJC BODY CYLINDER.zip
Hopinc
Hi IJC, I have just had a quick look at your cylinder and can find absolutely nothing wrong with the way you modelled it. However, this does depend on what your model is intended for? Firstly, bear in mind that there are usually a myriad ways of modelling a given item. I personally might have done it a little differently, but that does not make your method or my method wrong, just different. Everybody has his/her own way of working, it is the end result that counts. Creating models in the slickest possible way, with the least number of steps involved, comes only with practice and experimentation. Now comes the caveat, my advice is to always consider your method of manufacture right at the beginning as it will have considerable bearing on the way you model. If you are going to take this model to the manufacturing level then you need to consider the processes involved. For example if you are going to pressure die cast you will need to apply draft angles so the part can be extracted from the mould. This is much better done sooner rather than later. Good work IJC - keep going as you are, you are doing just fine. Regards. Dave
