Need help with conversion..

Hi,

I'm new here, but not new to AutoCAD. I'm currently running AutoCAD Mechanical 2010.

I am trying to make a 3D part, with Acme threads.

I swept the threads along my barrel, and now, the threads are considered a "surface" and my barrel is a 3d. Any ideal how to union the two together. I did a little research, tried the m2s.lsp routine but it isn't working.

I've attached the file.

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

Hi,

....not new to AutoCAD.

the threads are considered a "surface"

Why not sweep the thread as a solid?

Uhmmm, closed profile for toothform (or cutter) rather than open profile.

I recommend you start using Layers, set delobj = 0 and set your 2D/3D construction geometry on hidden layers.

Saves a lot of work. As it is you will have to recreate your 2D tooth profile and helix because you didn't preserve this work on hidden layers.

How do I sweep it as a 3D Solid instead of a Surface?

I would start with the major diameter and use a closed profile swept around the coil then subtract... This is more real world rather then trying to add the threads starting with the minor diameter.
