Import .Sat 3D file to Inventor NOT working HELP :)

Hi Guys,

I'm blocked with a time wasting issue :x. I need to get a 3D part from the net to avoid wasting time drawing it, I found the perfect part on 3D Content Centeral, I know I recieve it in .sat file and open it on my inventor, but the problem is, I see all the components that form my assembly, but on my work screen there is no assembly, I can open each part and see it, but in my assembly it is a blank screen (no visible part or assembly).

Any ideas anyone

Thnaks :)

Have a good day

Abby

Your going to need the .iam for the assembly. If you have the individual part, (ipt), files either saved from .sat or done on your own, you'll need to assemble yourself.

Sounds like you have surface bodies as parts - you are going to need to learn the Construction Environment to convert them to solid bodies. Can you zip and attach one of the ipt files here?

If you wan't to figure it out yourself read (watch)

Not sure what kenzac was referring to -

as I read your problem description

-you have assembly with parts listed in browser but nothing visible in graphics window

-if you open one of the parts you can see it in the graphics window (but my guess it is a yellow or orange transparent surface body)

JD Mather; yes you are right

-you have assembly with parts listed in browser but nothing visible in graphics window

-if you open one of the parts you can see it in the graphics window (but my guess it is a yellow or orange transparent surface body)

But I do not see the yellow/orange transparent...It is a full solid as featured part.

As if something is desactivated in the assembly that makes everything invisible (they are not hidden, locked, or disabled etc...) I attached the whole file.

Thanks for your help

What Options did you have set on Open? It opened fine for me (with Autostitch and Heal) but one part was corrupted - I'll take a look at that one.

I am more interested in one of your ipt files that you can see but can't see in iam environment. Can you zip and attach one of your translated files (before fooling with Options).

BTW - What release of Inventor did you say you are using?

JD Mather I really appriciate your time to help me out.

At the open option I set my file format to .sat file so it appears in my open option, and when it loads well I see nothing except the parts that combine my assembly.

I attached a .ipt see below.

That is a very interesting problem. I opened the files, and similarly the assembly is invisible, but you can see the individual parts when you open them. I'm interested to see how this is solved, my only thought is to try to do a repair install of inventor. It doesn't take long, I did one to fix a weird problem I was having.

Uhmm, I think you missed what I was referring to on Options (see attached).

Do you have set for Advanced Healing, Stitch and Promote, and Check Parts (quality) on Import Options?

Uhmm, the problem is not with Inventor - it is with the ACIS file.

heh, i guess i should have figured that since it did the same thing on my computer, either way, it was just a suggestion and couldn't hurt

LOL, not when you aren't the one doing the re-install.

As I said, I did one recently, took like 10 minutes or so. I wasn't suggesting un-installing and re-installing, that would take all day.

I realized that after I hit send, when I tried to delete my post it was still there...

Well this is interesting. The file was created in SolidWorks, but I can't get SWx 2009 to open the file.

I can get it open in Pro/E Wildfire 4, but a different part shows an anomaly (the wheel is fine).

Did a bit more checking and found poorly trimmed surfaces on the bracket that don't pass quality check as well. Doesn't look like the SWx operator was very experienced.
