Couple of answers

1st go back to Mr leica and ask about downloading to Autocad.

2nd if the leica can export out a xyz (NEZ) file you can read it into autocad via a lisp/vba as points no line work.

3rd Check civ3d maybe ?

4th the way we do it have a 3rd party add on points and line work created then in Civ3d for the rest.

5th as an ex Topcon employee some survey instruments are capable of exporting a dxf file.

We use Leica at work and with the two stations that we have, both need a third software to download from the station and output a DXF-file.

The major thing missing in CIV3d is a good stringing/points option its amazing that other software thats 20 years old did this from day 1. Yet Civ3d does not have it ?

You would think at the simplest import PENZD would have the ability to string.

Sounds like a Paypal shareware .NET oppurtunity for someone. Stringing is not that hard its to do with field coding as eg description 01401 = string 1 edge of bitumen 02401 2nd edge of bitumen do not join to 01401 alpha 01EB 02EB and just keep going, the smart software eg 01fence 01prop 01kerb our surveyors cheat start at 1 then just keep going till hit 99 then start again 01EB 02CL 03EB etc.

The other smart stuff is to do with adjusting traverses but if you only have NEZ a good start point.

Just a thought sort all points by code if str is 00 then its a point else join strings (lines) have a look table point code= layer etc so lines end up in correct layers. In the software we have ever used its known as the survey code library.

A word of warning though its called spagetti ! If you try to write this you will now what I mean.
