I also tried the DDINSERT command as well. I get a message saying: external block could not be inserted. If I do this a few times I get this fatal error:
FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at 644f8bc6h

Hello all.
I am having a rather disconcerting problem with a file that I really need to have finished up by Monday. I was doing a hatch when the program quit on me. When I went to reopen the file, I got this message:
INTERNAL ERROR: !dbqspace.h@410: eGeneralModelingFailure
So I renamed the Backup file to a dwg, and I got the same message.
When I tried to use the RECOVER command, I got this error:
FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0004 Exception at 454715h
I have tried opening the file in other software such as Rhino, VX and Adobe Illustrator, but to no avail. I have tried renaming the file as well. Does anyone know what I can to here? This will be pretty bad if I can't ge the file back open. Here are my computer stats:
2x AMD Opteron 244's 1.79ghz
2gb RAM
NVIDEA Quadro FX 3000 graphics card
Tyan Thunder Motherboard.
Any help is greatly appreciated...Thanks

Im sure there is another way, but like you, i have been in that situation and went to extremes on trying to bring up those drawings after all else has failed. something that has worked for me is using a newer version of cad to recover the drawing and save as to reopen in the version you are working in.. just something that worked in my last office but i cant explain why.

Thanks for that. I don't have anything newer than 2004 now, so that isn't really an option. I actually was able to find a backup file buried deep in my temp folder that contained most of the work that I had done to the point where the program crahsed, so all was not lost as I feared. I have been having issues with the Hatch command when I am dealing with files that I have imported from other 3d Cad packages. The reason for this, I am assuming, is that the drawings that are exported are done so in many little bits that make Autocad hiccup as it tries to enclose a hatch boundery. I am usually fine if I trace the area back with a polyline, but this is a pain in the ass...less so than losing my work though. I am still curious though if anyone has been able to sort out the above errors that I originally posted about
