Jabaker
Hi All, I want to know what skills I need if it is possible to create text which will update to the value of the dynamic distance of "distance 1" in the attached block Any help or assistance will be much appreciated Kind regards, James CP_BASE.dwg
dbroada
I'm at home so I can't open the block but... add an MTEXT or text object. Right click and Insert Field. Then hunt around a bit (I think in Object) and you will get a list of parameters that you can display. Select the one you want and save the block. As you stretch your block, nothing will happen. When you have finished stretching it REGEN the drawing and it will update. If that doesn't work with text try an ATTDEF. I KNOW these work (sitting here wondering why I used them not text in my blocks) bur you MUSTN'T delete the value in the attribute dialogue box. If this doesn't make sense. Look for dynamic block posts by me and you should find a "terminal rail" block which demonstrates what I am trying to describe.
qball
another option (not necessarily for your application) is to have a dimension in the block. you can turn off the arrows and extension lines to suit.
dbroada
I know this was some time ago but the answer appears to be no, you cannot use text but you can use attribute definitions. You need to explode the attribute you have used to get back to the definition and replace the default with a field code. Right click and use Insert Field and use Objects|BlockPlaceHolder and select Distance1.
