ACAD 2011 Transparency PDF problems

Products in question: AutoCAD 2011 Standard & Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard

Trying to:

Print to PDF, a CAD plan that I have used "transparency" effects in.

Problem:

AutoCAD hangs around 80% way through plot and fails to create the PDF.

Un-checking the "Print Transparency" option resolves the problem but I

obviously don't get the transparency !!

System Spec:

Intel i5-750 @ 4.0ghz

4GB Ram

Windows 7

ANy suggestions welcomed as I'd like to use these features.

Have you tried another Printer? There are free PDF-printers for download (cutePDF, pdf995 to name a few)

Right, just finished plotting it to a "Physical" Printer, works perfectly (and the effect is nice too!)

Therfore it's definately a PDF issue.

In the past I've had Acrobat plot fail for really detailed / rubbish laiden plans so i'm wondering if it's

something like there's a memory buffer setting perhaps that tranparency is pushing past?

Is there such a setting in ACAD / Acrobat?

Tiger, nope not tried other PDF creation utilities...I know it's sometimes a way around but I expect

Acrobat to do the job so will try to make it do my bidding.

After all, Standard doesn't plot over A2 but a bit of tweaking solved that....

Isn't that an "Export" rather than actually plotting?.. I ask as I seem to remember trying to use it before briefly (Very Briefly).

I have to ask, how do you plot with Adobe?

The built-in DWG-to-PDF shows up in the list of plotters in your Plot window.

You know I love 2011...everything just works so nicely !

I'm sure it was dabbling with 2010, XP & Acrobat 6 Pro when I got feed up looking at the in-built PDF maker.

Just went into the Plot window, changed the plotter to the DWG-2-PDF.pc3 profile and BAM..5 seconds later my crisp new PDF was open in Acrobat for review.

when you want to make a pdf of your drawing its not in the true sence plotting/exporting its just converting your dwg to pdf,that you can then send or plot the pdf, other wise you would just send the drawing to the plotter right off wouldnt you with out converting if that makes sence ?
