    I don't know if this can help but there is a command in AutoCAD 2004, in the text Express Tools that is used to align text to an arc... So look in your express tools, it might also be there.

    I'll take a look. I have AutoCad 2004 on my Laptop. I could do it there and then save it as an AutoCad LT file...
