RIFFLEMJ
I am trying to hatch and area...multiple areas. When I use the pick points method to create the boundary for my hatch, the blocks from the X-ref-ed drawing appear, delay, and interfer with selecting the appropriate boundaries. These blocks(or the layers) are VPfrozen. I have tried turning them off, freezing, and locking them at the same time, which stopped them from appearing, but it keeps delaying my pick point boundary. If anyone can offer any insight on this I would appreciate it. Thanks
BlackBox
Unload the xref prior to hatching, then reload the xref when done... you'll see a huge performance gain. If the areas you are trying to hatch are line work from the xref, I'd copy nested, then follow my first point. Hope this helps!

Not sure how to "copy nested" could you explain further? Thanks again!
BlackBox
*IF* you have Express Tools installed, there is a command called ._ncopy (at the command line), or you could go to the menu pulldown: Express > Blocks > Copy Nested Objects
RIFFLEMJ
Thanks, I can see how this will be helpful. In this instance, I have multiple walls that intersect with columns and other things. I can't use layer isolation on the X-ref in another drawing as far as I know. Right now I have saved a backup of my xref and just deleted all the blocks and I am then going to replace it when finished hatching. Doing the reverse and copying just what I need from the X-ref and unloading the X-ref would make it run so much smoother. I think this resolves my problem. Thank you for your help.
