imah
anyone had experience in this?well...is it possible to model a structure using different kind of modeling techniques such primitive, polygonal, nurbs and patching..
marmo
Structure is too general... Like this, for example?
imah
the structure is just a simple one....a pipe of 1m length and 0.1m diameter...if i want to model the pipe using NURBS techniques for example...how is it? i mean the steps to model the pipe using NURBS techniques in autoCAD.. marmo
You can use different command to extrude or sweep different kind of curves. Try: Loft, Sweep, Edgesurf if you start from section/construction line with path. But, do you know 3d modeling with autocad? regards
Cad64
Why do you want to Nurbs model a pipe?
marmo
Hi, http://www.mactech.com/articles/develop/issue_25/schneider.html In autocad you can draw NURBS line (circle, spline or pline curved for example) and you can model NURB surface by different commands (previous post). But is very difficult modify NURBS surface because you have not a grid of NURB'S NODE, like 3dMAX for example. A similar method of modeling NURBS surfaces can be done with autocad 2010 using the primitive mesh, move and rotate the vertices segments or faces of primitive and apply MeshSmooth without refine mesh. You can select vertex, faces, segments for example 3 faces you can move or scale or rotate You can apply smoothness LEVEL 1 (see geomety into properties panel) or level 4 after smoothness you can still move faces or vertex or segments You can refine mesh Before to refine mesh contol points are very few, so the model is like that of nurbs surfaces. After you can convert mesh to solid and apply usual modifiers of solids and boolean operations. WITH THIS METHOD IS DIFFICULT CHECKING THE ACCURACY OF MODEL. There are many tutorials on this site is that on the net. There are video tutorials on youtube. For a simple pipe you can sweep 2 circles and subtract inside cylinder from outside cylinder, if you have more different sections along path you can use loft command. marmo
A sample of a "pipe" modeled with a method described in previous post.
