I use AutoCAD 2005 and for some reason the buttons for save and open file,as well as their corresponding listings under file, no longer bring up the windows explorer box. Instead, I am directed to type in file locatiion and names in the AutoCAD command prompt. Any ideas why and how I can fix this. Thanks!

If for any reason you want to keep FILEDIA set at 0 you can also supply a "~" for the file name to get the explorer box up too.

thanks for the info.
For future reference, what does the FILEDIA command do?

as far as I know it's only function is to turn the FILE DIA(logue) box to be displayed. This is useful if you are running scripts that open several drawings. Rather than have to find the file from explorer you can supply the drawing number in the script.
