I have some CAD files in V8. when i save these files to V7 format (to handover to a client who only has V7) it drops the reference files. is there a way i can save into v7 and keep the reference files. (these reference files will be v7 also)

any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi diarmuid, what do you mean they drop the reference files. Are the reference files not converted to v7 or are the reference file paths not found when opened in v7?

I have attached a screen shot of the additional options that can be set when saving as a v7 format.

bijoyvm, sorry there is no automatic "easy button" to convert a v8 cell library back to a v7 cell. You will need to create the v7 cell library from scratch in v7. How many cells do you have to have?

Sorry,

While you cannot convert a V7 library back, you can convert a file with all cells plotted in it and then with some MDL programs, write the cells back out to a cell library. There is a cellutil.ma that plots cells to a file in a booklet form, and a cellx MDL that will write out the cells to a library. You'll need the v8 version of the cellutil program and the v7 version of cellx.

I Googled cellutil and found a V7 version with source code and a V8i version. That's on their community pages.

CellX used to be included with the preV8 install under the MDL examples.
