working on a drawing set up by a previous user, i am trying to change the plot style of a layer. My manual tells me to click the plot style associated with that layer in the layers properties manager, but the plot style column is read only. How can i unlock this? (2000i)

What exactly do you want to change or what do you want to accomplish? Have a print with certain colors?

There are two plot style types: color-dependent and named.

You can change a layer's plot style only if the drawing uses named plot style tables. If the drawing uses color-dependent plot style tables, change the layer's color to alter the plotted appearance of objects on the layer.

Try using CONVERTCTB. This saves a copy of a color-dependent plot style table as a named plot style table, which you can then attach to drawings that use named plot styles.

When you have created your .STB (Named Plot Style), use the CONVERTPSTYLES command to switch the drawing from .CTB's (Colour) to .STB's (Name).

You should find that the plot style is then editable from the layer dialogue box...
