UCS = User Coordinate System.

 

WCS = World Coordinate System

 

A UCS is specific to one's own drawing environment and can be changed as conditions or needs change.

You can change the UCS where the WCS is fixed. Usually the UCS and WCS are the same but you can change the UCS and offset it to the WCS.

 

Eg you can change the UCS from the WCS say 10 units in the X direction. Draw a line from 0,0 to 0,50 then change the UCS to world (WCS) and you will find the line is now 10,0 to 10,50
