David_Feynman
How do I determine the size of the paper for a drawing. In other words someone gives me a drawing. How can I determine if layout space gets printed at 36x24 or 42x30? Thanks
ReMark
I would look at the overall size of the building then consider what scale I want to plot it at. This will, in turn, give you some indication of the paper size you'll need. 42x30 is an odd size by the way. Where did you come up with that? I'm used to seeing 24x36 followed by 36x42. daft vader
well assuming they gave it to you as a dwg then it will normally say what to print it at ie 1:50@A1 etc, if it didnt have a template then print it what ever size you want in paper space
ReMark
I mis-read your post. You got the drawing from someone else. Is a scale called out in the title block? If so use that scale in the Plot dialog box and start with a paper size of 24x36. Set up any other plot parameters that you normally would do then hit Print Preview. If the drawing is too big for the sheet size selected then the paper has to get bigger (36x42?) or the scale has to get smaller (ex. - drop down from 1/4"=1'-0" to 3/16"=1'-0" or 1/8"=1'-0"). What type of drawing are you working with? Architectural, civil, mechanical, other? The scales I referred to are all architectural.
David_Feynman
Thanks guys. Remark, to answer your question the standard sizes for architecture in the US are 36 x 24 and 42 x 30, that is where I came up with 42 x30. I'm going to guess perhaps you are an engineer or different field where 36 x 42 is used? well assuming they gave it to you as a dwg then it will normally say what to print it at ie 1:50@A1 etc,But where would I find that? ReMark
Civil engineering. Where would you find what? The scale? Should be listed in the title block. No scale shown? Click on a viewport, check properties and see what scale it is set at.
BIGAL
36' = 914.4 mm A1 = 841x594 A2=594x297 A3 = 420x297 Check the length of your title block if its just short of 36 then its set to 36x24 you should be plotting your title block at 1:1 ours is 801 x
