    Default Template / Image

I work for a City in MN. I am the GIS tech / IS Tech. I have a CAD user in the engineering department with a Question.
Please forgive me if I am not gettign the right terminology. I am used the GIS world.

He has a Project/drawing with a boundary template. The boundary template or base drawing has The city logo, some specifications, etc. He copies this base and then adds his drawings. Each time he creates a new project/drawing he copies the base and then builds from there.

The problem is that the City Logo has been moved to another server. So the path is not correct any longer and the image no longer shows up (Just the path to the old image). No big deal I can change the path for that individual sheet. But I have hundreds of sheets that were created already that now have no City Logo.
    • 1. Is there a setting that I can set to effect all the sheets?

      2. Do I have to go into each sheet and reconnect the path to the new image?

      3. This would leave me to believe that the image is sheet specific. Is that correct?
I understand that from now on the base sheet will be fine because I have the path set correctly. My concern is the hundreds of already created sheets/drawings.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in Advance

    1) Put the image back.
    2) Put a copy of the image into the directory where the drawings live.

The Server no Longer exists where the image was....Is there any way I can reconnect without going into every sheet and reconnecting the image manually?

    Is #2 not an option?

If not, Toolpac includes a "reference repath" tool. Basically, it's a batch processor. You tell it the old path and the new path and on what drawings to operate and set it off...

    Toolpac = http://www.dotsoft.com/toolpac.htm

Screen shot of "reference repath" = http://www.dotsoft.com/images/tpdwgrepath.png

As for #2 do you mean puting the missing image in the folder where the AutoCAD drawings reside.....If that is what you mean I will give that a try...

Will the drawings notice the image there and reset the path?

In addition I will look into your other comments....I thank you for your thoughts.....they are very appreciated..

    Yes

The saved path will not be reset unless you open the image manager and set it. But the image will be "found" and displayed.

AutoCAD also comes with a Reference Manager that can reset the image paths (as an alternative to Toolpac).

True. I looked at the older version of Reference Manager, and didn't see the Image option. Good catch.
