How do you display objects in one layout and not display it in other layouts?

I'll try to be as specific as I can. I am currently making a set of drawings.

Let's say I have two objects.

When I plot Layout 1, I want both objects to show on paper.

When I plot Layout 2, I want only the first object to show on paper.

When I plot Layout 3, I want only the second object to show on paper.

When I go into model space, I want both objects to appear on screen.

How would I do that?

You have them on different layers and freeze/thaw the different layers in the different view ports

Assuming you have drawn your two objects in modelspace, go to paperspace (layout(s)) and simply pan, and/or shrink the viewports on each layout until only what you want is showing. You don't have to live with the default size or viewpoint of the viewports. You can resize, pan and zoom(scale) a viewport to cuatomize what is plotted without changing anything in modelspace. A viewport in paperspace is a window back into modelspace.

That is precisely the reason AutoCAD has freeze layer in viewports and viewports for plotting drawings.

What layer naming convention? I guess you can't use Xrefs either.

Don't be affraid to change your methods to increase productivity.

If you want to be stubborn about, then do it the hard way. Copy & Paste into the layout tabs and go through each one deleting what you do not want in the tab, depending on the situation you may be able to use wipeouts. With all of that work and time you may as well use a drafting board.

Honestly it's pretty easy, you would only use 2 layers.

Mine are not over lapping but they could be with no issue.

Some of my biggest fights with office users is layer naming. I am a K-I-S-S guy
