    Default Importing IGES or IGS.......

    Hello All:

Newbie here - very nice forum.
I've been Autocad drafting since I graduated college (started with version 2.1!!!)

Anyway my question is - I'm currently using AutoCad 2004 and am having trouble importing IGS files.

Now, I've found a Iges import program off the net & installed it and am able to get it to import using it.
Trouble is it's only a demo program which will expire after 50 uses.

Using the Insert command - raster image - & choosing IGS.............I get the "unsupported file" message.

I've also noticed that there are two different Iges extensions - iges & igs.
    are they both the same?

I was able to import the IGS files with the IGES program.

Also can anyone tell me what version of Autocad I need to import & export iges or igs files sucessfully????

    Any help would be great.......

By the way - my name is John.

    John,

Release 13 was the last IGS importer built into Autocad that I remember. And what I remember of that was that the final verison r13_c4a had dropped it. _c3a still had. I also think that the final version of 13 MDT still had as well.

I still run R12 DOS and it has IGES IN and IGES OUT. I don't know if it there were any difference between the release. -David
