Default From AutoCAD 3D Map 2010 into Rhino4

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Hello there,

Trying to get a model drawing from AutoCAD 3D Map 2010 into Rhino4...

    Can it be done?

    I have:
    a) deleted filters
    b) deleted whiteouts
    c) exploded all blocks
    d) purged

What I want is a plan drawing in Rhino, so I can then make it 3D...

    cheers
    Cas

In a nutshell, I create 3D models from the client's CAD files or design sketches, which I then use to produce high quality rendered images. Click on the link in my signature to view my portfolio. I'm always looking for work, so let me know if you need any renders. :)

I've renamed your thread and moved it to the Rhino section.

Rhino can import Autocad dwg files directly: http://www.rhino3d.com/4/compatibility.htm

    e) saved as all variations of 2010/2007/2004 that I can find

The one that opened the best was:
    Opened Rhino/Open/018_EXPLODED07.dxf file
    - no errors... hurray!

And, as somewhat a surprise, AutoCAD 2012 can import Rhino files directly.

In case anyone was interested to know.

Surprise, surprise, surprise! I just checked and 2012 can import many different file types. It's about time.

It certainly appeared that Autodesk’s previous modus operandi was to buy the manufacturer before allowing it’s software to play well with AutoCAD.
