I saw that video about 6 months ago. Iray was supposed to be released as a subscription advantage pack for 2011, but I never saw it.

Also, I've read reviews from people that have actually used it and they've said it's a total disappointment. Just have to wait and see I guess?

Didn't mean to break your hopes. I've just read some posts on other forums where people were saying it's not all that Autodesk claims it is. Hopefully they've improved it. I hope so because I was pretty excited about it when I first heard it was coming.

    its ok.

i somewhat dont care wether or not a new rendering engine is released but it would be nice since mental ray has been here for quite a while, i really want all the autodesk software titles to make use of all my machine's cores efficiently

I-ray (GPU based render engine) all gpu based renderer today are in their infancy stage, better to still stick to the more stable render engine but in the future I'm open to the GPU based render engine.

The British are coming too or at least that's what I've heard.

GPUs are now being incorporated with CPUs as a 2-into-1 chip arrangement. I think in the next 2 to 3 years this technology will make great strides. I believe nVidia and Intel are both pushing the technology.

Yuck, Intel needs to let ATI and nVidia do the GPUs as what they release are pretty weak or at least they been so far.
