Default Section Planes - Arcs AND Ellipses?!?

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

Can anyone tell me why in the world the section plane would create both an arc AND an ellipse for a fillet? The ellipse is directly on top of the arc when I cut the section and just adds additional, an rather unnecessary geometry to the block. Is there any way to force it to stop doing this? It's really annoying.

    EDIT:

Does anyone know of a lisp or something that will create a closed polyline for the profiles of any parts that are actually cut by the section plane? It would speed up block editing.

Using the SECTION command and generating the profile as Region is one option.
