DANIEL
Every now and then I come across this in someone elses drawing, it is not one of the listed layers that can't be deleted. Please help me find a way to get this kind of garbage out of my drawings.
BlackBox
The drawing probably has some Block, Dim style, or Table style (other?) that references the layer... I don't beleive you'll be able to purge the layer without fixing that first.
designerstuart
you need to delete everything off the layer before it will purge, and layers nested in blocks are normally the difficulty with doing this / finding them. command LAYWALK can help. ReMark
Don't care what is on the layer or what is referenced to it? Use the Layer Delete command found under the Format menu in the section called Layer Tools.
designerstuart
Layer Deleteis this the 'hard delete' they speak of in hushed tones?
qball
yep, deletes the objects on that layer from what I understand.

designerstuart
just don't get carried away with it - i bet it's easy to delete something you wanted. (there's likely a reason it's not a standard command)
DANIEL
trust me, I'm not sharing that command with my underlings lol
ReMark
yep, deletes the objects on that layer from what I understand. It deletes the layer as well as anything that is on it. A double-whammy.
qball
I just tried a few things. If you have Layer A and Layer B, you have A and B in a Block and the Block is on B, and you Delete Layer A, it will delete the parts of the block that have Layer A. But if the Block is on Layer A, it deletes the whole block.
