relationing dimensions in assembly mode.

Hello! I'll explain my problem.

I have a simple assembly with 2 parts. One of the parts has an extruded hole (the female), and the other part has the extruded male. I want to "link" male's position to female position. So if I dimension the female sketch, male's position updates automatically.

I don't konw how to do that "inter part" relation.

Could you help please?

Best regards.

The term you are looking for is "in context" modeling. This is using features from one part to drive another part. I prefer to model things as multi-body solids then make assemblies from there. I talk about multi body solids a bit on my site.

To do this in an assembly you will want to start your new part and use "convert entities" which will project that 'boss' onto your new sketch. This can get messy especially when dealing with mates and moving parts so you will have to be cautious.
