changing default units to fractional

how can i set this so when i load autocad it is set to fractional

Save the setting in your template file.

What file do you select when you start a new drawing?

Let's assume it acad.dwt.

Open the file acad.dwt.
Change your units by using the UNITS command.
Save the file or save it as a different name such as acad-fractional.dwt
