How do I apply a Hotfix?

I was having trouble with _copyclip/_pasteclip and I found a link at Autodesk with a hotfix, which I downloaded. It has these instructions:

"However, drawings that were previously saved in these formats from AutoCAD 2007 will continue to have the problem unless they are resaved with the hotfix applied"

How do I apply the hotfix?

The hotfix should be self-installing when you double click on the downloaded file. What version of AutoCAD are you using (your profile says 2000), what is the url to the hotfix (there is usually a ReadMe file at the same location with install instructions).

The ReadMe instructions direct me to download the hotfix and replace a file named "acdb17.dll". This file exists in my version of LT 2007 but doesn't exist in my version of 2002 (My error in creating my profile - I run 2002, not 2000). Autodesk's fix is a file named: "find 2000_from_2007.exe". When I click Run, it seems to run in an instant, but I can't locate a new "acdb17.dll" to replace the old one.

XP Pro. I should also mention that the _copyclip problem is new - within the past week - and has never failed before.

XP Pro. Alright. Thought I had something there (re: hidden file extensions) for a minute but it did not pan out.

If you did have a file named acdb17.dll it would be in the root directory of your AutoCAD 2002 program files.

Have you tried Ctrl+V for pasting?

This isn't the problem where the person who sent you the file has to apply the hotfix and resave the file is it?

I've tried Ctrl+V; no luck.

I'm following the hotfix idea because I do sometime use LT2007, primarily for opening files from consultants and saving them back to AutoCAD 2000. However, I'm pretty sure that the files I'm working on were created in AutoCAD 2002 with no interference from AutoCAD LT 2007 files...

I'm pretty sure that may not be correct.
