XREF - *INVALID* regenerating layout

HELP - I am using ACAD 2010, I am trying to use an XREF and everytime I try to insert it, I keep getting this error message reading *INVALID* regenerating layout, this is a first time problem for me and really could use some help trying to solve this.

Are you trying to insert it in paper space? Have you already inserted an xref with the same name? Does the xref reference the current drawing as an xref, i.e. are you attempting a circular reference?

Hi Roshen,

 

You can start by answering CyberAngels questions in post #2 -those are common errors with X-refs.

Please answer the following questions:

Yup I am trying to insert it in a paper space...but when I command xr...then the dialog box for xref come out there is no xref listed.

Have you tried a PURGE and AUDIT before you inserted the X-ref?

 

I already purge it but I did not try to audit it. Ok I'll try it.

Did you specify the insertion point, when you were inserting it?

It sounds like you may not have.

Did you ZOOM > EXTENTS after inserting it?
