bennyboy86
hey everyone, i am doing some steelwork again and our company doesnt have any 3d steel software. I have used Prosteel 3D modeling at a old company i worked for and it was really good, i can not find a demo version as i want to draw up the crane frame in 3d. does anyone know a good (free would be nice) alternative? thanks. SLW210
Are you looking for stand alone programs or AutoCAD Add-ons? Tekla, StruCAD and AutoCAD Structural Detailing (Offers a FREE TRIAL). For add-ons I used to have SteelPlus, now I use AL's Steel Mill I got free off the net. I just take 2D shapes from that and Extrude, Sweep or Loft them. You might have to check around if you need Australia specific shapes.
Organic
Are you looking for software to just model it visually, or are you also looking to perform analysis of the structure?
Vic_Poole
An alternative would be to use 2D steelwork shapes from a site like http://www.cad-steel.co.uk and extrude them as required!
SLW210
I'm really not to pleased with your reviving old posts to advertise your web site. It is really not proper forum etiquette.
