Organic
That is a rather broad question with a fair few steps involved. Have you read the surface (dtm) and points tutorials here: http://docs.autodesk.com/CIV3D/2012/ENU/filesCTU/GUID-F6A629B7-EB6B-443A-91EE-491076F7144-36.htm ? Tyke
As Dink said its a big subject and you need to read up on the basics so you understand what happens when you create a DTM. Are the points already in C3D? As Civil points or AutoCAd points or AutoCAD blocks? Do you have breaklines or must they first be produced? Lots of questions that need to be answered before you can proceed. We produce DTMs from various source objects and each variant need its own solution. With AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 you could get the documentation as PDF and as hard copy.
