freezing layer in tabs

acad 2000i I have a large site drawing and view this through numerous tabs. Each tab contains a view port and variouse layers are are frozen in each view port on each tab. The problen is when I add another layer to the model this shows up in all the view ports. Can I globally freeze this in all other view ports other than the ones I need to see it in. At the moment I have to got to each view port and freeze the layer in each and as the number of tabs keeps growing this is getting a longer job each time.

Yeh I use the vplayer command in CAD 2000,so you can control layer visibility in individual viepworts.
