Mirror part in Inventor

How do you mirror a part but get rid of base part? I want to make a left and right version.

If you want to have left and right versions - why do you want to get rid of the base part?
Method 1 (the correct way)
Start a new file.
Exit sketch.
Issue the Derived Component command and select the original part.
Set to derive as solid body and set to mirror.
Now you have a mirrored part and the original part.
(there is a shortcut to do these steps from the Manage tab of the original part - but try it this way first.

Method 2
Do Mirror feature selecting Solid option and then Save Copy As...
Undo the mirror in original (downside of this method is the two files are not associative).
