    Default AutoCAD & Adobe Illustrator

Registered forum members do not see this ad.

    Greetings to all.
    I am using AutoCAD 2000.
Can someone tell me if its possible to create a vector based image in Adobe Illustrator and somehow? use it as a hatch in AutoCAD.?

I am very comfortable using Adobe Illustrator, so I think it would be easier to create a hatch image (pattern), specifically a wood hatch in Illustrator than trying to figure out all the paths and so on it AutoCAD.

Can someone help me with this?

    As always

    Thanks

I think acad can use bmp or vector hatch patterns. Type HATCH the hit F1 and explore.

Check your export options in Illustrator. Later versions have DWG and DXF export.

    Hello again.
Just a quick reply to Mr. T. and Fazstp.

Fazstp, I use Autocad 2000, and I am unsure about acad, so I can't answer definitivly if your information was helpful or not.

Mr. T. I have done as you have suggested and there is no option to save as dwg or other. I can save as .ai (adobe illustrator) or pdf (portable document folder) or Illustrator EPS (don't know what that is for).

So at this point, without having to pay out money for the convertor program that autodwg.com is offering I am out of luck.

    Thanks again for the help.

AutoCad 2004 has an option in the express tools called superhatch that will alow hatching with an image. Didn't Acad 2000 have bonus tools? and if so has this got superhatch? Can't remember these days

    Hello Ako.
I am using AutoCAD 2000. I don't know what acad is.
My autocad 2000 does have superhatch located in:
Express - Draw - Super Hatch.

I haven't opened super hatch and I don't know how to use it.
Any suggestions? and will this help me load an image created in Adobe Illustrator?

    Thanks

    JamFam,

Acad is short for Autocad (I get lazy when I'm typing). In Acad 2004 when you open superhatch it gives you a dialogue box with a button to choose hatch with image. You then have to choose the image that you want. You then get a dialogue box similar to inserting a block, where you can specify the insertion point, scale & rotation. It should then ask you if the position is ok. Then you can pick points just like a normal hatch. It just tiles the image inside the hatch boundary. You may need to play with the settings to get the right result.
