Modeling Help

Hi Guys,

 

I am a new user for 3d max, I am modeling an aquarium but i need help in modeling and i couldnt find any tutorial to help me out modeling this 2 attached shells... Any help would be greatly appreciated =):):)

You can poly model these in Max if you really want to, but if it were me, I would use a sculpting program like ZBrush or Mudbox to do this type of work. Or you could use Sculptris or Blender, which are both free.

Thx for ur reply Cad64 =) ...I never used Zbrush or Mudbox .... but if i wanted to poly model these in Max how should i start it's kinda hard for me to do a shape like this so if u could help me out in how could i start if i wanted to poly model these shapes =) the in advance

That's why I would sculpt these shells. Organic objects are much easier to sculpt than they are to model. You could model it in Studio Max but it won't be easy to do and it won't be easy to explain how to do it either, especially to someone who is new to the program. Do you know what an FFD modifier is? Do you know about the Swift Loop tool? Do you know what Turbosmooth does? Do you know how to use Soft Selection? I used all of these tools in the creation of what you see below.

 

I didn't spend much time on it, only about 15 minutes, and it doesn't really look much like a shell, but the general idea is there. It would take a lot more work to get it to look really good.

:o I know all the modifiers except swift loop tool and how to use the soft selection ... I dunno how you could help me but i rly need help in modeling these stuff asap ... if u can record a video or take a screen shoots of the modeling of the procedures it would be so helpfull for me ... thanks very much for ur help :))

Actually, you would need 2 Bend modifiers. One for the X axis and one for the Y axis, but like I said:
