pvd
Hi all, I'm working on a new computer - 64bit instead of 32bit + 6GB Ram instead of 2GB - yeah I'm happy woohoow:shock: but still I think my autocad doesn't work much faster. For example scrolling in paperspace with more than 5 viewports doesn't go fluently at all. Is there any setting I have to put so autocad can use more RAM or any other suggestions? thanks in advance! The first things to take care of. Download and install SP1 for AutoCAD. In AutoCAD turn hardware acceleration on. In Win7, turn off aero stuff (at least as a test) Make sure to download the latest driver for your gpu. Sometimes going back a driver or two works as well. Go into the settings in Win7 and adjust the virtual memory. - System and Security, System, Advanced System Settings, System Properties Advanced tab, Performance…settings, advanced tab, virtual memory…change, Initial size = 3X ram (3GB ram = 9GB paging file size), maximum size = 4X ram. Go larger if you have the hard drive space. Also see attached for other ideas, things to try. SPEED UP AUTOCAD 09-20-2011.pdf

rkmcswain
Also see attached for other ideas, things to try. Wow, 138 things to do. I didn't look in detail, but I wonder what % of those are "turn off so and so setting"... There needs to be a "Safe mode" way to run AutoCAD which disables all but the essentials.... At least it might help people ID whether or not it's software settings or under-performing hardware

betazero
Add this to your acad.lsp file or create an empty txt file named acad.lsp and put it where your acad.exe file is. It helps with many different things including speeding up auto cad.
