Printing blocks with named plot styles

Recommended Posts

I am trying to insert blocks (nuts and bolts, external equipment, etc.) into a drawing that uses named plot styles. Then I want the inserted blocks to print with, say, 30% screening. I've tried different flavors for the blocks, By Layer, By Block, Layer 0, other layers, etc. The only way I can make this work is to go to the original block with Block Editor, and then change the individual lines to "30% Screening". It is pretty time-consuming. Can this really be the correct way to do this?

Why not create a new Named Style? Open up the STB file you're using, select "Add Style". Name it "30% Screened" or something to that nature, then set the screening accordingly. Also a tip, if you have a Named Style with a 0% Screen, name it "Mask", you can use it to act as a mask for any object.

Man, I sure love me some STB files. 8)

Thanks for the reply. I have already created a 30% screen style, however. It just doesn't work with blocks. It might work if I explode the blocks, but I don't really want to do that.

Ah, I see. You have to set all the entities inside the block to "ByBlock" using the Line Weight Control drop-down. With everything set to ByBlock, now the lineweight properties will filter down to what the individual block itself is set to.
