    Default Archive xrefed drawing while saving layer info...

    I am trying to develope a routine that will allow me to send an assembly drawing to an archived location. This drawing contains multiple xrefs with various layer controls (some on some off). My current routine copies the entire drawing to the clip board, opens a new drawing, pastes from the clip board and explodes and binds the xrefs. THe problem is, the layer controls are all turned on now. Is there a way to accomlish this while "saving" all of the layer information so that when this routine is complete, the layers that were "OFF" in the source drawing remain "OFF" in the archive drawing???
