CADsince07
Hi guys, Ok - so if I have two lines which run roughly paralel, but sometimes vary in the distance between them, is there a quick method of having CAD draw a line which is central to the two? Basically, like an offset, but it would need to offset the line at a distance that is central to the two lines, as and where it varies. IE, you couldnt choose 'offset' and then choose 'mid between two points' because the distance between the lines varies at points...... Hope this post isnt too confusing?! Cheers! ReMark
Lee Mac has a program called Dynamic Offset. One of the options allows the user to offset to the center of two objects by pressing C.
eldon
Another alternative would be this lisp from the Jeffery Sanders web site
CADsince07
Hi - ok I have found the lsp by Lee Mac - great stuff!! BUT - cant seem to get it to do the centre offset of two lines? I am selecting one line, then hitting C then selecting my 2 lines, but it seems to just offset at one distance (the same as doing a normal offset). Any ideas where I am going wrong?? Can anyone do a brief step by step?
RobDraw
Offset, by definition, is not the solution. You need something that will bisect the "lines". From your description, I think you are refering to splines or polylines. The same two "lines" cannot be be roughly parellel and sometimes vary in distance.
